Activities

Field trips are a mainstay of the Pendleton Homeschool Association. A different PHSA member arranges at least one per month from September through May. The volunteer PHSA member for that month sets up the field trip, arranges the tour (if necessary), designates a meeting place, gives directions to the location, receives RSVPs, and coordinates a Thank You note to the venue.

Field trips rarely cost money outside travel costs. While not always, many museums and facilities waive their fees for educational purposes.

Members decide from year to year which field trips they would like to host or participate in. All PHSA families are invited, but participation is not required. Recent field trips have included tours of local points of interest, like the UAS Range, the fire station, Hines Meats, Blue Mountain Wildlife, and Stapleman's Boots. While others have been outside of Pendleton, like the Blue Mountain Lavender Farm, Echo Corn Maze, the John Day Fossil Beds, the Sage Center, the Cheese Factory and Fort Walla Walla Museum.
